About Lucy

Lucy is a highly experienced teacher, and one of only a handful of accredited Floor Barre instructors in the UK, certified by Camille Rommett (daughter of Zena Rommett, originator of Floor Barre ®) and trained by master teachers including David Chase (former principal, Martha Graham Dance Company), Nora Kimball (former soloist, American Ballet Theatre/Nederlands Dans Theatre/Ballett Frankfurt) and Nina Thilas-Mohs (ballet mistress, Ballet Black). Lucy first qualified as a Floor Barre instructor in 2012 – she re-certifies on an annual basis with the Zena Rommett Floor Barre ® Foundation, ensuring that her teaching remains of the highest standard.

Lucy is Chancellor’s Fellow in History of Art at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author of Pina Bausch’s Dance Theatre (Edinburgh University Press), and co-editor of the forthcoming essay collection Performance in a Pandemic (Routledge). You can read more about her academic work here.

Lucy is Visiting Lecturer in Dance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she teaches Floor Barre for the Musical Theatre and Junior Conservatoire programmes. She is currently completing the Pilates Foundation matwork teacher training programme under the guidance of Vanessa Smith.
